One thing to note is that you may want a bag to put miscellaneous stuff in (eg grenades, spare ammo, first aid kit, tools). The mag pouches and doughboy will be useless for this.

A mag bag, ammo bag or musette is ideal however.

Yeah the haversack is purely a decorative item when it comes to airsoft, with the exception of carrying around your mess tin.

I always have an ammo bag on a GP strap when i play for gas, Bbs and nades.

So what's the verdict on the doughboy then, people use them or ditch them for the big games?

Kit looks smashing there, the bags are similar to the nam era claymore bags I use with my modern sbs kit... Handy fir carrying all sorts and "ditchable!"

out of interest, the garand you are using, what is it? Full wood?

the marushin 8mm blowback one, the Ammo bag is folded over slightly, its quite a big bag when it's full.

Doughboy pack isnt essential to playing airsoft, but as a general item, it holds it's own for any '43-'45 infantry impression. I play with mine because it completes the look.

I keep a blanket in mine. And my meat can...

It's almost impossible to remove it from my cartridge belt so it stays there.

It adds some extra weight and makes me feel like I'm doing more exercise...

Can't you keep a load of large smokes in th back of it, team members can thus remove and us? Like many Molle stuff on modern gear?

Not really... the doughboy pack isn't what I'd call a proper bag. It holds together because it is fastened together tightly... otherwise stuff will drop out.

You'll see when you get one!

Nice Joss, yeah the contents of the pack get wrapped up inside it. It's almost like those bags you find modern mil tents in, a rope holds it all together, undo the toggle and the bag falls down around the rolled up tent.

Of course,... getting back on topic, the Infantry assualt vest is covered in pockets that could be used for pyros, smokes etc etc.

Having used my Assault vest for the first time at Op Epsom. I can safely say, its a fantastic piece of kit. I carried lunch, waterproofs, ammo, grenades and gas. Aswell as running with the E-tool strapped on the back.

It spreads the weight perfectly. I could hardly feel it on. During the Saturday, the heavens opened, for a good 4 hours. As mine was the more expensive ATF version, its extremely waterproof. I cant confirm what the SOF version is like. Removing it to eat lunch, meant i exposed a perfectly dry torso.

I also have a haversack, which im yet to use. But im sure the occasion will come.
